About the Role
We are seeking a Senior SOX Compliance Analyst to join our team and play a key role in ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. In this position, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external auditors to maintain the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR). This is an opportunity to make an impact by promoting risk mitigation, driving operational efficiencies, and supporting regulatory compliance.
What You'll Do
- Lead and support the annual SOX compliance program, including planning, risk assessment, scoping, testing, and reporting.
- Conduct walkthroughs and detailed testing of business process and ITGC controls, documenting results in line with professional standards.
- Partner with process owners to identify key controls and assess design effectiveness.
- Evaluate control deficiencies, assist with remediation efforts, and recommend enhancements.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including process narratives, risk control matrices (RCMs), flowcharts, and testing evidence.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors, responding to requests and inquiries.
- Provide guidance and training to control owners to strengthen SOX awareness and the overall control environment.
What We're Looking For
Education:
- Required: Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Accounting, or related discipline.
- Preferred: Master's degree in Business, Cybersecurity, or related field.
Certifications (Preferred): CPA, CISA, PMP, or similar.
Experience:
- Required: 4+ years of experience in SOX compliance, public accounting, internal audit, or financial analysis/processes.
- Preferred: Experience in public accounting and/or the utility industry.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent project management and communication skills.
- Deep understanding of SOX requirements, compliance, and remediation processes.
- Ability to analyze risks and communicate findings effectively.
Preferred Knowledge:
- ERP systems (SAP, Oracle Financials, PeopleSoft).
- Audit/data analytics tools (ACL, Arbutus, IDEA, Power BI, Tableau).
- Utility industry compliance requirements (e.g., NERC CIP).
