Function:

Legal Job Summary:Experienced commercial attorney responsible for a broad range of commercial matters, with a primary focus on drafting and negotiating IT-related contracts and other commercial agreements. Other matters that s/he will also support include legal guidance relating to data privacy, procurement, manufacturing, EHS, real estate, human resources, and other, general commercial contracting and other matters.

This position reports to the VP, Associate General Counsel. Job Description:

Major Responsibilities:

  • Providing support for IT procurement in negotiating information technology contracts.
  • Providing legal advice to the manufacturing and procurement teams on a wide range of contracts and site-specific legal issues, including working with plants and distribution facilities in the US, Cananda, and the UK.
  • Providing legal advice to the UK business (in coordination with local counsel) on a wide range of legal issues, including drafting and negotiating contracts and assisting with litigation.
  • Providing legal advice on data privacy matters, including developing and maintaining policies for data privacy and compliance with GDPR requirements.
  • Providing support across a range of other areas, including for example human resources related matters, EHS matters, real estate matters, developing, reviewing and revising company policies, conducting training where necessary, assisting with ongoing litigation, and handling various other legal matters as the needs of the business dictate.
  • Supervising outside counsel where appropriate, ensuring quality, value and budget discipline.

Incumbent Attributes:

  • Education/Licensing: Juris Doctor degree with strong academic credentials.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of related legal experience at a prominent law firm and/or corporation or other prominent firm.
  • Strong foundation in commercial law and negotiating and drafting contracts law matters; solid experience in general corporate law.
  • Business-oriented approach to problem solving, tempered by an appreciation for legal complexity and risk.
  • Superior legal and analytical skills - excellent judgment and initiative in selecting the most effective solutions.
  • Strong negotiation skills. Highly developed analytical and legal research skills, highly effective written and verbal communications skills. Ability to communicate and relate to all levels of the organization and within a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to stand firm on issues with business clients when necessary.
  • Collaborative nature.
  • Developed sense of judgment, risk management skills and ability to balance business needs, regulatory obligations and reputational risks in an objective, practical way.
  • Demonstrated ability to both grasp the "big picture" and attend to details.
  • Excellent follow-through skills; dedication to responsive internal client service.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize and manage workload, manage simultaneous tasks, and meet deadlines with a changing fast-paced environment.

Estimated base pay for the position is typically between: $159,500 - $224,400

The actual base pay for the position may be influenced by factors such as education, training, skills, qualifications, competencies, years of experience, job-related knowledge, and scope of the role, and could be outside of the posted pay range.
