Inova Center of Personalized Health is looking for a dedicated Compliance Specialist to join the team. This role will be full-time day shift from Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, Remote Role

Remote Eligibility: This position is eligible for remote work for candidates residing in the following states - VA, MD, DC, DE, FL, GA, NC, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, WV

The Compliance Specialist is a crucial member of the regulatory compliance team. This is a key role in monitoring and tracking compliance education and training programs, conducting investigations and/or audits and completing administrative documentation and tracking duties; aids in the development of action plans for potential compliance issues that have been identified managing the various compliance platforms or other auditing or monitoring activities; ensures that there is timely and adequate investigation/response and documentation of issues as they are identified; and advises, as appropriate, on updates to policies and procedures, regulatory changes, or business initiatives related to or impacted by regulatory compliance and privacy.

Compliance Specialist Job Responsibilities:



  • Assists with the coordination and completion of compliance and/or privacy audits and reviews to ensure laws, regulations, and company policy guidelines are met.
  • Responsible for staying current with regulatory changes and conducting the necessary research to ensure the organization's proper regulatory oversight.
  • Receives and investigates reports of potential compliance or privacy incidents.
  • Assists in the collection, organization, and interpretation of data for identification and prioritization of areas of compliance and privacy risk.
  • Assists with oversight of the System Compliance and Ethics Hotline and Privacy Monitoring programs while ensuring that there is timely and adequate investigation and appropriate response.
  • Conducts compliance and/or privacy trainings and HIPAA Assessments. Develops and updates targeted and annual training materials.
  • Serves as compliance and/or privacy liaison to all Inova facilities and departments.
  • Completes documentation and reporting of assigned areas of responsibility, including but not limited to: privacy, sanction screening, exit interviews, and audits, according to defined workflow or process requirements as may be adjusted from time to time.
  • Manages the department email and phone line to triage questions, concerns, or complaints.



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in related field (or relevant experience in lieu of degree equivalent to 4 years)
  • Experience: 5 years of healthcare or regulatory experience



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience in compliance, privacy, audit, risk management, or related healthcare regulatory role.
  • Experience conducting internal investigations, audits, or monitoring activities related to regulatory or privacy issues.
  • Experience supporting or managing a compliance or ethics hotline and/or privacy monitoring program.
  • Proven ability to triage, investigate, and document compliance and privacy matters with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear training materials, reports, and presentations.
