Description:

As technical expert with complete latitude in day-to-day decision-making and focus on Product Support Management and Design Interface, performs systems engineering tasks required for providing IT capability and infrastructure to deliver IT solutions at both enterprise and local site levels within the customer environment. Provides software systems engineering approaches for requirement development and Technical Requirements Documentation. Performs requirements traceability matrix development for verification and validation of requirements to be implemented using an Agile-based software development approach. Provides inputs for risks, impacts and potential changes to product quality and project scope, schedule, and costs during the Agile software development phase. Provides systems engineering, system mapping, and other technical services required to design, model, test, pilot, and implement the systems and infrastructure services, IAW established architectures and security standards. Employs a holistic approach to engineering the collective effort, using impactful technology solutions and best practices, including risk management, control procedures, and lessons learned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide VCF and infrastructure recommendations for service-level and technical improvements that can encompass storage, CPU, memory, and image environments.
  • Create and administer as required:
    • Virtualization clusters and machines
    • Microservices
    • Self-service templates
    • Cluster auditing, logging, monitoring and observability.
    • Storage, CPU, and image environment via monitoring
  • Implement VCF environment updates per team lead directives and/or self-identified recommendations ensuring end client configuration management policies are followed including but not limited to planning/scheduling, documenting, and coordinating through proper channels.
  • Evaluate, design, and implement customer initiatives at the direction of the subsystem lead.
  • Assist with the development of automation related to the VCF suite.
  • Provide Vendor Liaison Support
    • Provide direct access to proprietary VMware Professional Services delivery toolkits and best practices documentation as well as direct access and coordination of VMware Global Support Services issue management, escalation, and resolution.
    • Provide reach back to additional VMware Professional Services Resources Support and Subject Matter Experts
    • Provide VMware licenses usage optimization.
    • Assist with performance monitoring and tuning.
  • Provide VCF training on end clients specific VCF environment configuration changes as directed by the subsystem lead.
  • Provide Testing on end clients specific VCF environment configuration changes as directed by the subsystem lead. Tasking associated with testing may include:
    • Development of test plan
    • Execution of technical tests
    • Documented test plan result

Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance
  • Active Sec+ certification required prior to start. Approved IAT II or IAT III certifications can be substituted for for Sec+ requirement.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with VCF infrastructure
  • Hybrid onsite in San Diego, CA
