Job Overview

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) plays a crucial role in applying nursing theory, technical, and communication skills to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients and their families. The ED RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, identifying urgent or emergent care priorities, and collaboratively providing direct care, applying appropriate interventions, and evaluating patient progress.


Responsibilities

  • Connect with patients and families during triage, establishing rapport and addressing comfort needs.
  • Conduct primary and secondary assessments of critical needs, documenting deviations and identifying necessary interventions.
  • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members for optimal patient outcomes.
  • Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures and treatments, making appropriate referrals for post-emergency care.
  • Teach patients and families about continuing care and healing at home, assessing learning styles, and evaluating retention of key points.
  • Maintain awareness of the patient's condition and update patient communication boards throughout the ED stay.


Qualifications

  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and NYS RN Licensure.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least one year in an Emergency Room environment.
  • Stroke Certification (Must be AHA or RQI).


Schedule

ER D/N/W/Holiday rotation - 3x12s with 2 On Call shifts per 4 weeks.
