The Anzell lab is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral research fellow to conduct cutting edge research in the field of molecular genetics and cell biology. The fellow will work alongside Dr. Anthony Anzell and contribute to the development of a deep mutation screening platform to identify pathogenic genetic variants at large scale.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to research experimentation including but not limited to:

  • Molecular, Cell Biology and Biochemical Techniques: Mammalian cell culture, cloning, lentiviral generation, cell line generation, animal handling and husbandry. Experience with CRISPR technology or unbiased prime editing screens would be an asset.

  • Assay Performance: Performing and analyzing data from Western Blots, Immunofluorescence, qPCR, and sequencing results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently plan, design and execute biomedical research experiments related to molecular genetic variant identification and vascular biology questions.

  • Contribute to the mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students.

  • Maintain daily records of experiments performed and analyze data.

  • Engage in collaborations with members of the department and with external members

  • Present findings at scientific conferences and internal seminars.

  • Prepare high-quality abstracts, manuscripts for publication, and contribute to grant proposals.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in relevant scientific field (e.g., Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biomedical Sciences etc.).

  • Track record of research productivity including impactful scientific contributions.

  • Experience with cell culture and animal handling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in vascular biology.

  • Prior experience in grant writing and securing research funding.

  • Expertise in gene editing and spatial transcriptomics.
