National Grid is hiring an Analyst for our Work Order Controls team within the Capital Project Delivery department. This position can be based in Upstate or Downstate, NY.

Job Purpose

The Analyst in Work Order Controls is responsible for supporting the end-to-end lifecycle of the NY Electric Work Orders, ensuring that the financials reflected on Work Orders are accurate and processed in a timely manner. This role involves executing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), conducting analyses, and collaborating with various departments, including Plant Accounting and Finance functions.

The Analyst will assist in training initiatives, system improvements, and process enhancements to contribute to the financial health captured at the work order level and support the overall company financial statements.

Key Accountabilities
  • Team Support: Collaborate with the Work Order Controls team to establish clear objectives and support the execution of KPIs.
  • Data Analysis: Conduct thorough analyses of work orders to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial reporting standards.
  • Work Order Scrub Processes: Assist in executing monthly and bi-annual work order scrub processes, identifying and correcting deficiencies to ensure accurate reporting and minimize audit risk.
  • Capital Monitoring: Support the monitoring and facilitation of capital into-service, aiming to mitigate aged Construction Work in Progress (CWIP).
  • Error Resolution: Help address and resolve closing and work progression errors in Power Plan and Storm-related work orders. Identify trends and conduct root cause analysis to prevent systematic issues from recurring.
  • Ad Hoc Analysis Support: Provide analytical support for ad hoc work order and system analysis to assist Plant Accounting and the NY Electric Business.
  • Training Development: Participate in the development and deployment of training initiatives aimed at reducing upfront errors and minimizing back-end mitigation efforts.
  • Digital Systems Expertise: Contribute expertise to support the deployment of strategic digital systems, including STREAMS, KRAKEN, and SAP S4.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Electric Business Unit, Plant Accounting, or Financial Business Units preferred.
  • Process Understanding: Strong understanding of Electric Business processes and their interaction with company legacy systems.
  • Audit Experience: Experience interfacing with internal and external auditors is desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Certifications: PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or other relevant professional certifications are desirable.
  • A valid driver's license that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy is required.
