In our Finance-Statutory Reporting unit you will prepare and analyze financial statements and reports for Sentry management and ensure compliance with our external regulatory agencies.

This opening can be filled at the Associate Financial Analyst or Financial Analyst level, dependent upon background and experience.

This position will be located at our Office in Stevens Point, WI in a hybrid work model and is not a fully remote opportunity.

For this position, Sentry does not offer employment to holders of F-1, J-1, and H-1 Visas.

What You'll Do

As part of the Finance - Statutory Reporting team, you'll support Finance and Sentry by performing the following activities:

  • Preparing, distributing and analyzing financial statements and reports. These reports may include, but are not limited to income statements, balance sheets, statements of cash flow, annual statement exhibits, and regulatory reports and filings

  • Apply appropriate accounting principles and assure proper recording, assembling, and documentation of accounting data

  • Monitor and perform financial activities, including reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing journal entries, and researching or resolving issues, in accordance with accounting principles and reporting schedules

  • Analyze accounting data, systems, and controls; reconciling differences as necessary

  • Maintain corporate compliance with government regulations and tax laws

  • Assists in projects by researching, interpreting and summarizing accounting literature including statutory accounting principles, GAAP, and IFRS.

  • Manages ad-hoc analysis and reporting requests by collaborating with appropriate areas, conducting analysis, and communicating results in an effective manner

What it Takes

  • Bachelors Degree in Financial service field required (Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, or Management Information Systems)

  • 0-2+ years of related work experience

  • Internship or Co-Op experience preferred

  • Previous financial analysis and/or accountant experience, particularly in the insurance industry, is preferred.

  • Able to demonstrate research and analytical skills, including the ability to use appropriate accounting theory, practices and analytical skills to review, interpret and communicate accounting data through the application of accounting principles, theories and concepts.

  • Ability to work within business systems. Intermediate to advanced Excel experience and financial software experience is a plus.

  • Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to request, coordinate, and control data from various sources.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other relevant designation is strongly encouraged (ie. CIA)
