HDR is in search of a Water Resources EIT to join our specialized Fisheries Ecohydraulics practice. In this role you will be supporting fisheries projects ranging from fish passage, water crossings, stream restoration, fish screening and structures. HDR has an amazing fisheries group with a long-standing history of technical excellence. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who is looking to grow their knowledge, as well as excited to mentor and train junior staff.
In the role of Water Resources EIT, we'll count on you to:
  • Work under project engineers on the application of various design engineering and modeling techniques in the development of water resource projects for federal, state and local municipalities
  • Provide project engineering support
  • Collect, assimilate, and present data in reports, memos, and public forums
  • Conduct field assessments of streams, wetlands, and estuaries
  • Assist with design calculations and clearly document design decisions in technical reports.
  • Assist with design plans, specifications, and engineering cost estimates.
  • Work independently in addition to planning, organizing and assisting groups of medium to large teams of professionals and technicians
  • Assist with hydraulic and hydrologic modeling
  • Evaluate sediment mobility and bridge scour
  • Assist with development of habitat complexity designs, including LWM layout and details. Evaluate stability of LWM structures
  • Focus on hydraulics and hydrology modeling, stormwater collection systems modeling, data collection, assimilation, and presentations
  • Focus on projects including flood control, river design, stream grade control structures, dike systems, levees, stream channel restoration/rehabilitation, wetland and lake restoration, watershed issues and non-point source loading and point source design
  • Produce design calculations, draft technical reports and perform water resources studies
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with stream restoration design concepts
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software HEC-HMS, WWHM, HEC-RAS1D/2D, and SRH2D.
  • Experience using WDFW Water Crossing Design Guidelines and WSDOT Hydraulics Manual
  • Experience working with CAD and GIS software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion
    of task.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite, standard CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, and hydraulic modeling software
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of task
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
