Position Summary:

This position has responsibilities to maintain, troubleshoot and repair a variety of electrical and mechanical equipment in a food processing environment. This position requires proficiency in multiple skill clusters, such as electrical controls, fluid power, mechanical systems, welding, fabrication, and manufacturing processes. This person will perform medium to high-level machine systems troubleshooting and repair and provide technical support for all phases of the operation. This work will be of average to considerable difficulty in the accomplishment of a variety of mechanical maintenance actions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of industrial controls, PLC's, instrumentation, VFD's, HMI's and three phase motor circuits. This position requires the ability to operate, test, troubleshoot and repair process equipment. Basic knowledge of General Maintenance and Mechanical components of manufacturing equipment are also required.

  • Must comply with all Company SAFETY rules (LOCKOUT/TAGOUT, ETC), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), and all Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations.

  • Works from verbal and written instructions, blueprints, and sketches to complete work orders and PM's.

  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment and systems for emergency repairs.

  • Applies skills, experience, and general knowledge to a wide range of tasks to adjust, repair, dissemble, replace, and reassemble plant equipment.

  • Performs preventive maintenance routines and inspections.

  • Utilizes hand tools and common powered hand and shop tools.

  • Approaches job duties with a sense of accuracy and urgency.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job requirements, on occasion require work beyond normal duty hours resulting from emergency or high priority work.

Tools and Equpiment:

All hand tools, chain hoist, soldering equipment, grease gun, paint brushes, voltmeter, hydrometer, torch, hairnet, gloves, etc.

Safety Equipment:

Helmet, eye protection, safety shoes, ear protection, LOTO etc.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 2+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

  • Must be able to read and write fluently in English to communicate and understand technical/ training manuals written in English.

  • Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.

  • Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift or scissor lift preferred.

  • Displays sound judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently with little supervision.

  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Physical Demands:

  • Wet and/or humid conditions;

  • Moving mechanical parts;

  • Extreme cold -10 (freezer) to ambient air temperature (rendering/kill);

  • Electrical and/or vibration shock.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers; handle, feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; up to 100 lbs with assistance.

  • The employee may be pushing and/or pulling heavy roller carts, bins, or transport containers.

  • Employee will be climbing or moving on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways, and platforms. May be required to access very high location.

  • Use and maintain a variety of hand tools, powered tools and equipment, electrical devices, controls, and motorized vehicles.

  • Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instruction from supervisors and designated staff.
