Description and Requirements

Lenovo is seeking a highly skilled Wireless Standards & Technology Enablement Engineer to spearhead strategic initiatives in next-generation connectivity, standards governance, and intellectual property optimization. This role is pivotal in shaping Lenovo's leadership in wireless innovation, driving vendor enablement, influencing global standards, and safeguarding Lenovo's technology portfolio through rigorous patent analysis.

Responsibilities

Smart Vendor Enablement/Disablement

    • Architect and execute Lenovo's Smart Enable/Disable strategy across emerging platforms.
    • Lead Proof of Concept (POC) development with key technology partners, and internal stakeholders, ensuring seamless integration and security compliance.
    • Orchestrate cross-functional collaboration for security architecture reviews, business case validation, and IP legal clearance.
    • Serve as the primary driver for weekly technical reviews, milestone tracking, and vendor engagement to accelerate feature readiness.

Standards Leadership

    • Represent Lenovo as a technical authority in IEEE 802.11 and Wi-Fi Alliance working groups and board level interactions.
    • Formulate and implement Lenovo's standards participation roadmap, securing voting rights and strategic influence.
    • Engage with global stakeholders to shape protocol evolution, ensuring Lenovo's requirements are embedded in next-generation wireless standards.
    • Enlist and manage internal resources to participate in Standards activities and act on approved strategies.
    • Monitor regulatory and procedural changes, proactively positioning Lenovo for compliance and competitive advantage.

Lenovo Technology Patent Analysis

    • Conduct advanced patent landscape assessments to identify overlaps, risks, and strategic opportunities.
    • Collaborate with IP legal and engineering teams to develop actionable insights for patent filings and defensive strategies.
    • Deliver comprehensive reports and recommendations to senior leadership, enabling informed decisions on technology investments and innovation pathways.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in wireless technology development, standards participation, or related engineering roles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to lead cross-functional collaboration across engineering, legal, and business teams.
  • Strong business acumen for investment decisions and business case validation.
  • Excellent strategic planning and vendor management capabilities.

The base salary budgeted range for this position is $150k - 170K. Individuals will also eligible for a 12% annual performance bonus. This role can be remote, based anywhere in the US.
