Position Highlights

The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson (COM-T) seeks a dynamic, nationally recognized leader to serve as the next chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Reporting directly to the Chair of the Department of Surgery, the chief will collaborate with the leaders of COM-T and Banner-University Medicine to enhance existing clinical, teaching, and team-based research programs and position the division for continued growth and transformation.

Based at Banner - University Medical Center Tucson, Banner - University Medical Center South, and Diamond Children's Medical Center, the division delivers a comprehensive continuum of services.

Appointment rank is commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will meet the requirements of either a career track or tenure track faculty according to the College and University guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Inspire, develop, and lead
    an accomplished team of faculty while mentoring trainees and advancing the
    division's clinical programs. Foster a culture of accountability and
    demonstrate strong leadership and consensus-building skills across the division
    and the department.
  • Drive strategic program growth by expanding and strengthening clinical, research, and educational initiatives; enhancing multidisciplinary collaboration; elevating the national reputation of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Arizona and Banner Health; and ensuring excellence in the training of medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Provide clinical services and mentor trainees at Banner - University Medical Center Tucson and Banner - University Medical Center South.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Professor or Associate Professor
  • MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent medical degree.
  • Board-certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
  • Candidate must be eligible for medical licensure in Arizona.
