GFT isseeking a highly experienced and technically proficient and sales focused Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead client relationship management, proposal development, and strategic pursuits in the Philadelphia and surrounding markets.

What you'll be challenged to do:

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with strong and a proven ability to drive business growth through technical sales. This role is ideal for a professional who can combine deep mechanical engineering knowledge with strategic client engagement, helping secure projects and deliver innovative solutions that meet performance, budget, and schedule goals. You will work closely with Client Service Leaders, Business Development, local Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Project Managers, and Directors to identify project pursuits and develop strategies for new and expanded client growth. The focus will be to grow the mechanical and electrical project portfolio by establishing new design-build opportunities in commercial, industrial, and institutional markets.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering & Management
    • Responsible for managing resources for Mechanical staff within the Mid-Atlantic area.
  • Sales & Business Development
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within target markets in the greater Philadelphia and New Jersey areas.
    • Work with internal business groups for cross-sale opportunities.
    • Develop technical proposals tailored to client needs.
    • Act as a technical advisor during pre-sales and post-sales phases, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business.
    • Represent the company in client meetings, interviews, and industry events to promote services.
    • Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts and stakeholders.
Education | Experience:
What you will bring to our firm:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
  • PE license in good standing.
  • 8+ years in mechanical engineering design and analysis.
  • 3+ years in technical sales or business development within an engineering context.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, piping systems, and applicable codes (mechanical, plumbing).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
What we prefer you bring:
  • Experience with design-build firms or integrated project delivery.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainable design practices.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Willingness to travel for project execution and client support.
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $140,000 - $170,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
