Press Support Plate Librarian

Position Objective:




The Plate Librarian is responsible for maintaining the inventory and catalog of press plates that are used in the print room. This includes pulling and assembling plate jackets for kitting and maintaining the library inventory. The plate librarian prioritizes job jackets to meet press room needs.




Job Description




Role and Responsibilities:





  • Must be able to follow Vision Press Schedule and pull all order in a timely manner.







  • Check plates for defects, such as worn plate, missing type, cracks and creases.







  • Complete proper paperwork for standard work and pharmaceutical orders, such as First Article Sign-Off sheet.







  • Make sure plate jackets are updated with current labels.







  • Communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group situations to Customer Service Reps, plate makers, and the Art Department.







  • Prepare plate transfers between WSPG plants.







  • Scan all orders in. Sort by date, working one week ahead.







  • Find plates in gray folder for every order and update the folders as needed.







  • Once plates are checked and approved scan order out







  • Find all part numbers for order requiring art.







  • Check existing plates and comments.







  • Process all pink slip requests from customer service or art.







  • Alert scheduling to have orders run together that have similar plates, dies, etc.







  • Manage CPD Filing







  • Perform Job Costing Extracts







  • Log Countermeasures







  • Update training matrix with new training data







  • Submit work orders







  • Run daily management reports

Qualifications and Education Requirements:



Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.




Preferred Skills:





  • Able to function successfully in a self-managed environment







  • Excellent skills are required in reading, writing, spoken communication, and math (arithmetic, percentages, decimals and fractions, use of a ruler)







  • High level of Excel skills required







  • Comfortable working with and able to learn new computer skills.







  • Effective communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment







  • Excellent multitasking and problem solving skills







  • Physical requirements include good eye-hand coordination and ability to lift up to 50 lbs (20 lbs. repetitively).






Physical Demands:



Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. While performing the duties of the job, employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, use hands to write or type, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.




Manufacturing environment requires hearing, foot, and/or other personal protective equipment while performing duties in a manufacturing setting. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is not regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles. The noise level in production departments requires hearing and foot protection.
