Description

The YMCA of the North Shore is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening our community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Accounting Manager to support accurate financial reporting and day-to-day accounting operations across the association.

This role works closely with the Controller and Finance team to manage the monthly close process, support budgeting and audits, and ensure strong financial controls while upholding the mission and values of the YMCA.


Key Responsibilities


  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and manage the monthly close process



  • Coordinate and support a team of staff accountants to meet reporting deadlines



  • Prepare and review journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and financial transactions



  • Review invoices and sales systems for appropriate accounting treatment



  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and annual audit processes



  • Perform monthly budget and forecast reviews and financial analysis



  • Prepare audit schedules and financial reporting documentation



  • Collaborate with Local YMCA branches and internal teams on financial needs and special projects

Qualifications

Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required



  • 3+ years of public accounting experience or 4+ years of private accounting experience



  • CPA license preferred (or actively pursuing certification)



  • Strong knowledge of intermediate accounting principles and U.S. GAAP



  • Experience or familiarity with nonprofit accounting preferred



  • Ability to analyze financial data to support strategic and operational decision-making



  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment



  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to provide direction, guidance, and effective delegation
