Summary:

Utilizes expert knowledge and skills, provides individualized medical nutrition therapy to assigned patient population. Provides leadership in the department by researching, implementing or designing evidence-based practices, participates in compliance and quality improvement efforts to ensure safe and effective care and development and revision of hospital policies. Population served may include neonates, pediatrics, adults and geriatrics. Uses prescriptive authority granted by the Medical staff.

Job Description:

*Serves as an expert in Medical Nutrition Therapy and the Nutrition Care Process (assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and monitoring and evaluation).
*Develops and conducts education programs for patients, physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, student, peers and the public as needed
*Participates in the orientation and serves as preceptor/trainer for students and new dietitians.
*Leads and designs departmental quality and or patient safety initiatives relative to patient care.
*Communicates and influences treatment interventions by using research-based and cost-effective care.
*With demonstrated competency, may manage parenteral nutrition orders.
*Performs other functions as required.

Qualifications:

*Masters degree required or Bachelors with 2 years of additional experience in lieu of Masters degree.
*8 years experience in inpatient setting.
*Licensed Dietitian-NM Reg & License-LD-NM RL
*Registered Dietitian -RD
*MUST HAVE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING, 1-4:
1. Certifications in CDE-Certified Diabetes Educator,
2. CNSC-Certified Nutrition Support Clinician,
3. CSP-Certified Specialist in Pediatrics,
4. Successful completion of PHS Nutrition Informatics Competency
*Successful completion of PHS competency in adult parenteral nutrition support.
*Privileging through medical staff required.
