Job Description

Job Summary
The Machine Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and operating production and support equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing of Instapak Quick products. This position supports two production lines and requires adherence to quality, safety, and operational standards. The Machine Technician works both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.



Shift: Nights


Pay Rate: $25.75/hr. (Plus $1.20 Shift Premium)



Essential Functions
The following duties are considered essential to the job.


Equipment Operation & Maintenance



  • Monitor, operate, and maintain production and support machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs using approved procedures, including implementation of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
  • Conduct product and equipment changeovers as needed.
  • Perform authorized machine adjustments and minor modifications to maintain production quality and throughput.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of machine performance, repairs, maintenance activities, and production data.


Production Support & Quality Control



  • Perform quality inspections, process tests, and record data in accordance with established procedures.
  • Support production by performing Operator (Levels 1-3), Product Support Associate, and Packing Associate tasks as needed.
  • Communicate operational issues across shifts to ensure continuity of production.
  • Collaborate with operators, packers, quality control personnel, and supervisors to maintain product quality and production efficiency.



Material Handling



  • Operate forklifts to move raw materials and finished goods (or obtain certification within required timeframe).
  • Maintain safe and organized material handling and warehouse practices.



Safety & Compliance



  • Follow all safety rules, procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Contribute to housekeeping and 6S standards to promote safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
  • Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or process deviations to supervisory staff.



Other Duties



  • Work overtime and weekends as needed to meet production requirements.
  • Perform additional duties assigned that are reasonably related to the job's essential functions.

  • Serve in a leadership or peer support role as requested.
  • Assist with training of new employees.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications



  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment testing.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of machine maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to safely perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Knowledge of LOTO procedures.
  • Basic proficiency with hand tools, hoists, and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, basic hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to use computer-based documentation systems.
  • Ability to solve mathematical problems at a high-school level.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable attendance.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Forklift experience (or ability to become certified within 3-6 months).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of basic control systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.



Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.



  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs multiple times throughout the workday.
  • Ability to stand for up to 4-hour increments or for extended periods as needed.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions including bending, stretching, reaching, and manual assembly.
  • Ability to safely operate machinery, tools, and forklifts (after certification).
  • Vision sufficient to perform tasks requiring close and distance vision; contact lenses are prohibited per safety policy.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety-toed footwear, safety glasses, and safety vests.

Work Environment



  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, temperature variations, and chemical materials consistent with industrial settings.
  • Work may require extended hours, shift work, or schedule adjustments based on production needs.
  • Employee must be able to perform work safely under fast-paced and sometimes stressful conditions.



Compensation



  • Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Overtime is paid for hours worked over 37.5 hours per week.
