POSITION SPECIFICS Penn State's Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) is looking for enterprising students to participate in a Summer 2026 engineering undergraduate internship, Fostering Opportunities in Research & Government Engineering (FORGE). The goal of the FORGE - ARL program is to identify rising seniors, graduating in May 2027, with interest in full-time employment at ARL. Students will conduct research to enhance their readiness for successful and significant careers in national security. Typical duties may include:
Students studying Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Science and Mechanics, Material Science, and Computer Science are encouraged to apply. To apply, please submit a cover letter and resume which includes GPA. The cover letter must address the technical disciplines within ARL you have interest and why. Information about ARL can be found at www.arl.psu.edu. You must be a rising senior. You may be subject to a government security investigation, and you must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the ARL will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. This is a paid internship designed to provide valuable, hands-on experience and an opportunity for a full-time position after graduation; interns should plan for their own housing and relocation arrangements. Your working location will be fully on-site, located in State College, PA. ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intelligence Community (IC).
