Established in 1986, EOHSI's major objectives are to:
Advance understanding of the mechanisms by which environmental and occupational chemical exposures impact human health.
Identify and measure human environmental and occupational exposures to chemicals. Treat populations adversely affected by chemical exposures. Develop educational tools describing relative risks of chemical exposures. Contribute to public policies related to environmental and occupational chemical risks. Offer training programs for environmental health professionals.

The Institute serves as an unbiased source of expertise about environmental problems for communities, employers and governments in all areas of occupational and environmental health, toxicology and risk assessment. EOHSI members are active as advisors to international, national, state and local organizations on public health issues.

Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey has opening for a Full Time Staff Assistant for the Clinical Research and Occupational Medicine Division within the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute, located in Piscataway, NJ. Under the direction of the Mental Health Director, the Staff Assistant provides administrative and programmatic support to the Mental Health Department for a federally contracted health program. Assists with coordination of services, scheduling, data entry, and compliance related activities to support high quality patient care. This position is fully dedicated to work under the World Trade Center Health Program contract and requires Epic proficiency.

Duties include:

  • Assists with administrative aspects of the mental health program to ensure compliance with applicable funding requirements,federal regulations, institutional policies, procedures, and service delivery mandates.
  • Performs accurate data entry of mental health screening tools and questionnaires into the electronic medical record and otherrequired databases.
  • Inputs, tracks, and maintains data across multiple systems, including but not limited to Epic and program specific reportingplatforms.
  • Collaborates with faculty, clinicians, and interdisciplinary team members to support timely and effective delivery of mentalhealth services.
  • Assists case managers, social workers, nurses, psychologists, and psychiatrists to support continuity of care and completionof required services.
  • Assists with clinician scheduling and calendars to optimize clinic flow and appointment availability.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Art, Public Health or Business Administration, the Social Sciences or a related field.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and ability to use electronic databases effectively.
  • Ability to assist program participants with scheduling, follow-up, and accessing services.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work professionally and collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on additional tasks as needed.
  • Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an administrative or program support role
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (Epic preferred) and standard office software is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with diverse populations or in a healthcare-related environment is a plus.
