Position Summary

The role entails providing comprehensive psychological, social, and practical support to a designated group of patients and families. Key responsibilities include conducting social work assessments, identifying challenges, setting goals, and implementing tailored care plans. The position requires making referrals to external agencies and ensuring seamless continuity of care. Collaboration with and leadership within a multidisciplinary team is essential to enhance patient outcomes. Serving as a clinical resource expert in a specific specialty area, the incumbent will also provide clinical oversight and consultation in the absence of the Clinical Social Worker III/Director. The focus of this role is on clinical practice, education, or research, and it includes mentoring others. The position may require providing on-call coverage as needed.


Competencies


  • Education



    • Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from an accredited school of social work.



  • Knowledge



    • Understanding of biopsychosocial and cultural elements relevant to clinical social work practice.
    • Familiarity with the procedures, systems, and organizational objectives guiding social work.
    • Proficient awareness of community resources.
    • Insight into the current healthcare landscape.
    • Ability to collect and synthesize relevant data for informed judgments regarding patient care.
    • Comprehension of the medical and psychosocial consequences of illness and their impact on social functioning, particularly in relation to specific patient populations.
    • Awareness of relevant community resources that align with patients' illnesses, symptoms, mental status, and functional impairments.



  • Skills



    • Exemplary oral and written communication skills to effectively engage with hospital staff, healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
    • Proficient in delivering social work services within a mental health and healthcare environment.
    • Strong analytical abilities to assess patient needs, formulate treatment plans, and implement effective interventions.
    • Capability to identify organizational challenges and recommend strategies to enhance patient care.
    • Ability to work autonomously in a mental health and healthcare setting.
    • Competence in assessing patient needs at micro and macro levels, developing complex treatment modalities, and providing effective counseling.



  • Required Licensure and Certification



    • Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners licensure at the LCSW or LCSW-C level is mandatory.
    • Exceptions may apply for those licensed in another state or jurisdiction, provided they meet the Board's regulatory requirements and have a pending application for licensure or successfully passed the Board-prescribed examinations.



  • Work Experience



    • A minimum of two years of licensed clinical social work experience in a mental health or healthcare setting is required. Internship experience may be considered.




Salary Range: Minimum 34.11/hour - Maximum 56.34/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
