Pharmacist Informatics Specialist

Open to hiring in our east (Southfield) or west (Grand Rapids) regions. Will be a hybrid role with a 20% onsite requirement at either corporate location.

Job Summary

Responsible for managing and directing the development and implementation of the informatics applications, tools, medication orderables, and decision support to enhance the safe and effective medication use process. Ensures consistency with organizational philosophy and goals, compliance with applicable administrative, clinical, and regulatory requirements. Partners with interdisciplinary leadership to support the safe use of the medication use cycle and the intersection of the electronic health record.

Essential Functions
  • Serves as the pharmacy informatics expert resource and Pharmacy department liaison to Clinical Operations. Networks within the System and the external Pharmacy profession to maintain clinical informatics expertise.
  • Manages the process for approval of medication order changes, including creation of medication order sets to ensure safe, effective, and efficient evidence-based prescribing.
  • Designs, organizes, and implements effective and actionable medication rules and alerts for physicians and pharmacists.
  • ParticipatesinthedevelopmentofPharmacy's clinical information and technology strategic plan by assessing areas where technology enhancements would promote more effective and efficient patient care services and advising clinical operations on strategic direction for technology applications in pharmacy and medication management systems.
  • Supports process improvement teams as the pharmacy informatics expert related to medication use. Leads the pharmacy clinical informatics and works closely with nursing andproviderclinical informatics teams involving key stake holders in decision making.
  • Plays active role in informatics policy and procedure development; software customization; upgrade planning, implementation, and testing; database management and mining.
  • Provides and supports education and training related to new technology or technology changes.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy
  • At least 2 years of relevant hospital pharmacy experience or an American Society of Health - System Pharmacists (ASHP) Pharmacy Practice Residency
  • License - Clinical Pharmacist from the State of Michigan
  • License - Pharmacist Controlled Substance from the State of Michigan

Preferred

  • Prior experience working in informatics
  • Experience within institutional care, clinical pharmacy services and pharmacy systems management
  • Prior experience designing, configuring, and implementing vendor software
