The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Overview: The Director of Respiratory Care is responsible for overseeing, coordinating and managing the Respiratory Care Services Department assuring efficient and economical operation and high-quality pediatric patient care as defined by the scope of clinical practice for Children's Specialized Hospital. Qualifications: Required:
- Graduate of an approved school of Respiratory Care
- Credentials issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care
- Current New Jersey license as a Respiratory Therapist
- Registered Respiratory Therapist, RRT
- American Heart Association BLS Provider Certification
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years clinical experience in respiratory therapy
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years of progressive leadership experience
Preferred:
- Master's Degree in an appropriate field of study respiratory care, science, or business
- Clinical experience working with pediatrics and/or neonates
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- New Jersey Respiratory Therapist license
- Registered Respiratory Therapist, RRT
- American Heart Association BLS Provider Certification
Scheduling Requirements:
Essential Functions: Leadership:
- Demonstrates effectiveness in directing and in the development and implementation of clinical programs, staffing protocols and therapeutic methods and procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of patient services developed
- Establishes and enforces written policies and procedures for provision of all Department services
- Reviews and revises annually and as needed
- Continually strives to meet the identified needs of the users of Department services
- Demonstrates effective customer service and addresses all complaints
- Works with supervisors and staff to resolve issues
- Communicates with others to ensure resolution
- Responsible for oversight of direct reports e.g., respiratory manager, supervisors and other respiratory leaders
Development:
- Demonstrates commitment to managerial development through participation in meetings, committee membership and continuing education
- Acts as an educational resource and is available to Department staff, Medical and Nursing staff and other interested parties
- Supports staff and supervisory development through Hospital, System and outside educational offerings
- Acts as a mentor as appropriate
- Actively seeks input from physicians, nursing, patients and other users to determine Department performance
- Incorporates information into improvement plans
Planning:
- Ensures staffing is appropriate to meet patient care needs and support service functions
- Effectively participates with professional staff members of other Hospital services to coordinate services, educational opportunities or support needs
- Develops goals and objectives in consultation with Administration, Medical Staff and staff consistent with Hospital Mission
- Consistently completes all assignments in a timely manner, appropriately detailed with predetermined measurable checkpoints and expected variations

- Role models leadership and professionalism to create an environment that support staff in their personal and professional growth
- Stays abreast of healthcare issues, trends in education, and clinical research that influence the CSH respiratory practice environment

- Utilizes a variety of feedback to improve processes and services to meet and exceed customer needs

Regulatory:
- Ensures that Respiratory Care Services Department complies with all applicable policies, laws and regulations
Other:
- Moderate lifting, walking, and standing
- Occasionally assist with pediatric patient care
- Needs to be proficient and function in role of RT when necessary
- Light travel requirement between CSH sites located in New Brunswick, Mountainside and Toms River
