STO - Mechanical Test - Virginia Class
Overview The Shipyard Test Organization is a learning organization that plans, prepares and executes complex testing on all non-nuclear systems through strict adherence to the policies and procedures that drive our Test Program. Our Test Directors abide by the nuclear watchstanding principles that have shaped our STO Pillars: Procedural Compliance, Ownership, Integrity, Level of Knowledge, Backup each other, Formality, and Planning. STO is the premier trade made up of a team of world class testers who have the knowledge and skill to be the last in line delivering the most capable warships to the U.S. Navy. STO Test Directors complete a rigorous qualification program through provided schooling, hands-on application and troubleshooting on the deckplate, and a continued dedication to growth and proficiency within their role. Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
Perform hydrostatic testing of all Shipboard, Steam and Electric Plant, Auxiliary and Weapons systems.
Training and Qualifications: Shipyard Test personnel are required to complete and maintain qualifications in the following areas:
