Tesla's Drive Systems Engineering Test team works with the drive unit design team to facilitate development of drive unitcomponents such as motors, gears, and pumps. We are seeking a multi-faceted, entry-level Test Engineer with insatiablecuriosity who will be responsible for the testing of drive systems (e.g.: stator, motor). This will include all aspects of testexecution and reporting of key findings for validation and durability testing.


What You'll Do
  • Prepare, run, and monitor various tests with multiple test samples
  • Acquire, analyze, and visualize complex test data
  • Document test setup, progress, observations, and summarize key findings
  • Perform root cause analysis on issues and failures that arise during testing
  • Develop test plans, profiles, and methodologies for validation of drive systems; work with cross-functional teamsto develop pass/fail criteria
  • Design, build, document, and troubleshoot test rigs, setups, and equipment in the lab
  • Perform hands-on tasks to complete the job
  • Work with design and reliability engineers for test planning activities (test scheduling, prioritization,specifications, etc.) and to ensure alignment between testing requirements and overall system goals
  • Work closely in the lab with technicians to prepare, install, and validate test samples, as well as repair and debugcomplex issues with existing test equipment

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Excellent grasp of engineering first principles, especially with motors, inverters, and mechatronic systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • 2+ years of experience in design validation and durability testing
  • Academic or professional coding experience in data analysis and visualization (Arduino, C++, Python, MATLAB)
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical tools (shop tools, multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply)
  • Must be hands-on (assembly, fabrication/modification, instrumentation, wiring)
  • Strong sense of ownership, taking full accountability for assigned tasks, with the ability to adapt and changedirection swiftly
  • Collaborative mindset, recognizing the importance of teamwork within Tesla, and exhibiting a willingness to seekassistance and provide support when necessary

    Expected Compensation
    $92,000 - $192,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
