Role Summary: Reporting to the Distribution Center Supervisor, the Distribution Center Lead is responsible for supporting the materials management function of the department that the Distribution Center Lead is over. The Distribution Center Lead is essential to the overall operation of the business. While specific daily tasks can vary depending on the company, a Distribution Center Leads' main responsibility is ensuring Distribution Center Associates are successfully following work processes and assisting them with training and development.
Exciting work you will do: The essential duties and responsibilities of the Distribution Center Lead position may consist of some or all, and are not limited to, the following:
- Assist Supervisor/Manager with daily tasks and projects as assigned
- Assist Distribution Center Associates with work process questions and problems
- Manage appropriate queues inside the Kendall business system
- Prioritize workflow of scheduled orders
- Check accuracy of Distribution Center Associates' work
- Respond to shipment errors and inquiry emails
- Monitor truck loading to ensure accuracy
- Perform defined Distribution Center activities specific to the receipt, placement into inventory, selection for shipment, and shipment of stock
- Pick and pack orders accurately and promptly
- Receive inventory accurately and promptly
- Restock inventory in designated storage areas
- Truck loading and unloading according to established procedures
- Accurately identify and count inventory in assigned areas
- Maintain quality and quantity performance and production standards
- Verify back-orders and adjust inventory as needed
- Follow safe work habits and established safety procedures
- Participate in safety initiatives as assigned
- Learn how to operate equipment including forklifts, hand trucks, cranes, and other warehouse equipment
- Participate in ongoing general housekeeping of the Distribution Center
- Check assigned equipment for proper operation and report problems to supervision
- Attend meetings and training sessions
- Other Distribution Center tasks as assigned

What you'll need:
- Work Experience: 1 year prior warehouse experience
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Analytics/Computer Skills: Ability to use standard office equipment, including but not limited to bar code scanners, printers, warehouse equipment, machines, and vehicles; basic math and reasoning skills
- Organization Skills: Excellent work ethic; good verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently
- Cross-functional Skills: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and under the direction of a Distribution Center Supervisor or Manager
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization; ability to request assistance when appropriate, especially when lifting heavy objects
- Physical, Mental and Visual Skills: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; reasonable accommodations may be made.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to frequently lift or move up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, pull, and push during the entire work shift
- Ability to climb stair/step ladders up to 16 steps
- Physical Environment: Exposure to temperature conditions prevalent at the time; noise level consistent with that of a distribution center
Qualifications we prefer but don't require:
- Work Experience: 3 years prior warehouse experience; 2 years prior experience operating a forklift
