Job description

Title: Hospital Front-Desk / Guest Services Liaison / Staff Assistant

Location: New York, NY 10065 (Onsite)
Duration: 4+ months (Possible Extension)



Location: Onsite
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM (Weekend rotations required)



Job Summary

The Guest Services Liaison / Staff Assistant serves as a key point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff within the hospital. This role provides accurate patient location information, assists visitors with directions and hospital policies, manages phone and walk-in inquiries, and offers administrative support to the Director of Patient Relations. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, calm under pressure, and adaptable to changing departmental needs.



Key Responsibilities



  • Greet and assist patients, families, and visitors in a professional and compassionate manner
  • Provide accurate patient location information using hospital systems and coordination with Admitting, Nursing Units, OR, PACU, and other departments
  • Answer and triage incoming phone calls and walk-in requests from patients, families, and staff
  • Identify urgent requests and deliver messages promptly or page appropriate staff
  • Transfer calls to patient rooms or departments and provide clear contact information
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with privacy regulations
  • Track and follow up on messages for Patient Representatives
  • Monitor lobby and elevator areas and explain visitation policies to visitors
  • Direct visitors to hospital departments, conference rooms, and local amenities (hotels, restaurants, garages)
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the Director of Patient Relations as needed



Required Qualifications



  • 2-4 years of relevant experience (healthcare, hospital front desk, guest services, or administrative support preferred)
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage high-volume calls and in-person interactions in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer skills and comfort using information systems
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and empathetic in sensitive situations
  • Must be flexible with schedule changes and weekend rotations
  • Vaccination required
