North Wind Dynamics, LLC is an Alaska Native-owned Small Disadvantaged Business, specializing in infrastructure support services and facilities maintenance, base operating services, waste management, radiological services, security control, force protection, environmental services, janitorial services, professional, administrative, and management services.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Special Projects/IT Manager is responsible for collaborating with the Project Manager and Deputy Project Manager for performance of special projects necessary for the efficient operations of the Infrastructure Support Services contract. This role provides the technical and administrative management/oversight of assigned projects.
In addition, this position is responsible for collaborating with the Project Manager, Deputy Project Manager, and corporate to support efficient and quality completion of IT services. This includes field oversight, cost control, subcontractor management, and client interface. Supervise performance and schedules, monitor progress, and initiate action to ensure project objectives and schedules are met and work is performed timely and effectively.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provides direct oversight for all assigned projects, programs, subcontracts, and other activities as assigned.
  • Lead critical troubleshooting efforts and provide direction for issues in conjunction with subcontracts/vendors and infrastructure environments.
  • Oversee a wide range of server, network, and software administration duties including installations, debugging, maintenance, upgrades, and general support of contract systems and applications.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of all assigned core infrastructure, ensuring they are secure, reliable, and meet the needs of the organization.
  • Provide through strong problem-solving skills the diagnosis and resolution of complex technical issues related to assigned tasks and programs
  • Analyze and solution problems associated with operating system's servers, hardware, applications, and software.
  • Monitor systems performance and ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Evaluate & troubleshoot IT infrastructure and Internet connectivity throughout the organization.
  • Ensures that issues are investigated and resolved, and necessary changes/repairs are performed and documented.
  • Ensure highly available operating environments utilizing secured on premise, hosted, SaaS, PaaS and cloud platforms.
  • Evaluate current infrastructure investments and drive efficiencies, innovations and automations through new and existing tools.
  • Build lasting client relationships through demonstrated excellence in engagement delivery and personal networking, support development, execution and delivery of solutions and information to the client to secure lasting client relationships.
  • Responsible for ensuring cyber policies and best practices are met
  • Demonstrate leadership and understanding of business processes and risk management.
  • Provide strong background in working with government requirements and frameworks (i.e., DOE Orders, NIST, etc.) to ensure compliant systems. Assists in cybersecurity related tasks as needed.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, testing, and maintaining compliance with disaster recovery plans.
  • Assists in management of enterprise environments and maintain knowledge of current IT environment and industry IT trends to drive strategy and innovations and communicate this information to the engagement team and client management through written correspondence and verbal presentations, as assigned.
  • Lead and execute projects with a diverse team through the system lifecycle including, assessments, reviews, improvements, designs and/or implementation to identify improvement opportunities in the areas of process efficiency, operation, and security.
  • Ensures that assigned personnel are adequately supplied with information, materials, tools and equipment.
  • Identify and evaluate complex business and technology risks and remediation methods to mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with other departments within and outside the organization to ensure the IT infrastructure is aligned with the overall business goals and objectives.
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings.
  • Coordinate with the rest of the IT team to meet the team objectives.
  • Supervises assigned personnel, including staffing and performance management.
  • Ensures that assigned personnel observe all work rules.
  • Responsible and accountable for Safety & Health performance and the communication of safety awareness.
  • Maintains a safe working environment. Demonstrates awareness and implementation of applicable environmental, safety, and health (ES&H) requirements while also alerting co-workers of such requirements as needed.

  • Ensures safety and health of employees during work tasks, utilizing good work practices, and following procedures and protocols.
  • Supports corporate on special projects of general technical nature as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience


  • Bachelor's degree required with Project Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar degree preferred; or a combination of education, experience, training, and certifications can be considered.
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in IT Operations with increasing responsibility and diversative experience; Experience in Systems, Applications, Cyber, incident response, and project management preferred.
  • Experience leading an IT department or organization, architecting solutions, implementing and supporting software is desired

Other Skills/Abilities


  • Expert knowledge of technologies and languages in Operational platforms such as, but not limited to: Linux, Unix, VMWare, Microsoft Server, Microsoft Azure, LAN/WAN/wireless.
  • Deep understanding of hardware scalability, high availability, risk mitigation and best practices of implementing IT infrastructure at scale
  • Experience with designing, deploying and supporting infrastructure and applications
  • Ability to optimize computer hardware/software delivery and provide actionable metrics
  • Ability to manage and track end user requests and provide reporting metrics on how the service desk is supporting the organization.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing situations
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to all levels of talent
  • Solid problem-solving and conflict management skills
  • Project Management Professional, preferred
