Job Description

The Mortgage Finance Risk Manager monitors risk across various lines of business within mortgage finance, including but not limited to warehouse lending, MSR (Mortgage Servicing Rights) financing, and credit products tailored to the needs of non-bank mortgage originators, servicers, and similar entities.

How You'll Spend Your Time
  • You will monitor risk across mortgage finance lines of business, including warehouse lending, MSR financing, and other credit products for nonbank originators and servicers.
  • You will identify, evaluate, and mitigate mortgage finance risks in alignment with the bank's defined risk appetite.
  • You will track key risk indicators and develop proactive strategies to address emerging risk exposures.
  • You will analyze and manage risks related to interest rate volatility, secondary market liquidity, and counterparty performance.
  • You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure strong and consistent risk management practices.
  • You will provide risk guidance and ongoing support to the mortgage finance team on riskrelated matters.
  • You will stay informed on industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging risks while preparing and presenting risk reports to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Education & Experience Requirements

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree in business or accounting or related field of study and 5 years of directly related experience in Mortgage Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong understanding of the mortgage ecosystem and how mortgage finance is exposed to various risks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and technology platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or similar software tools for the analysis and reporting of risk data.
  • Proficient in reviewing the financial statements of Independent Mortgage Banks (IMBs).
