Job Description




As a Security Officer - Cargo Screening in Indianapolis, IN, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As a Screener with Allied Universal at a fast-paced logistics and distribution location, you will monitor access points, conduct screening activities, and perform routine patrols and presence to help reduce security-related incidents. You will communicate clearly with team members and site personnel, document observations, and support smooth daily operations with strong customer service. This role reflects our agile, reliable, and innovative approach, backed by teamwork and integrity.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients, visitors, and associates by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a logistics and distribution location.
  • Conduct entry screening of personnel, visitors, and vendors as assigned, which may include walkthrough screening, handheld screening, and inspection of carried items in accordance with post orders.
  • Control access points by checking identification, validating credentials, issuing temporary badges as directed, and directing individuals to the appropriate check-in process.
  • Screen deliveries, parcels, and outbound items as assigned to help to deter prohibited items and/or unauthorized removal of property.
  • Monitor assigned screening area for suspicious activity, policy violations, and/or unsafe behavior, and report concerns promptly per site procedures.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including notifying site leadership and/or emergency services as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of interior and exterior areas, including docks, staging areas, and perimeter routes, as required by post orders.
  • Complete detailed reports and logs for incidents, access denials, screening results, and other security-related activity before the end of shift.
  • Use radios, phones, and site systems to communicate clearly with Allied Universal management and client representatives regarding routine operations and emerging issues.
  • Support traffic flow at entrances, exits, and dock areas as assigned, providing directions and assisting with queue management during high-volume periods.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to lift more than 20 lbs is preferred.
  • X-Ray screening experience is preferred.
  • Loss prevention experience is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
