About the Job

The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) seeks a Coordinator of Student Internships and Community Partnerships. The person in the role will help the Dean and Associate Dean of CAHSS develop our new, strategic initiative called Humanities in Action (HIA). HIA has three overarching goals: 1) to strengthen the collaborative relationship between UMD and non-profit organizations that are committed to community-oriented impact in Northeast Minnesota; 2) to provide paid internships to undergraduate UMD students who are majoring in a humanities field; and, 3) to co-create tools and strategies that increase inclusivity and equity in communities throughout our region. The person in this role will work with non-profit organizations in the region to build strategic partnerships and to develop experiential-based learning opportunities in the form of paid internships for CAHSS students in humanities majors. The position requires some work during evening and weekend hours and travel to internship sites throughout the region.

This is a full-time, 12-month position and it is privately funded through the year 2030. While there is an intention to seek continued funding beyond that point, ongoing support for the role (as any other) is not guaranteed.

  • Co-create with CAHSS faculty and staff modules and lesson plans for HIA students during pre-internship, internship, and post-internship experiences.
