Division of Development and Alumni Relations
The Division of Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Georgia advances the goals, objectives, and priorities of the university by generating private financial support, building, and maintaining relationships with alumni and donors, and assisting students with career development opportunities.
Career Center
The University of Georgia Career Center is the provider of centralized career services to undergraduate, graduate students, and alumni at The University of Georgia. Career Center staff work collaboratively with faculty and staff of all departments to enhance the career success of University of Georgia students/alumni. Several of the "nuts & bolts" services the UGA Career Center provides to its students include career counseling, job search training, and opportunities to connect with employers.
The Career Center also serves as a corporate gateway to the University by helping employers meet key faculty/staff, understand culture and curriculum, and successfully recruit UGA students and alumni. A broad group of corporate, government, and nonprofit employers recruit at The University of Georgia, and the Career Center facilitates this process through career fairs, on-campus interviews, and a variety of recruiting and educational programs and events.
Office of Instruction
The Office of Instruction provides critical student academic services, from recruitment through graduation, as well as faculty support related to teaching and curricular matters. It is charged with empowering instructors and students to enhance the teaching and learning environment across campus, to champion new ideas and methods for teaching and learning, and to prepare students to understand and navigate the global world in which they live, work, and learn. The Office of Instruction is responsible for a wide range of initiatives that advance the University of Georgia as a national leader and as a preeminent, global university.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 8 years of professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hold an earned Ph.D. or other terminal degree, accompanied by experience leading universitywide faculty or teaching development initiatives.
  • Bring at least two years of handson experience designing and facilitating faculty development programs, such as teaching workshops, learning communities, or organizational development initiatives focused on teaching and learning.
  • A minimum of two years of teaching experience within a large research university environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities effectively.
  • Documented excellence in teaching, instructional design, and/or educational development within a large public research university.
  • Strong communication skills with the capacity to engage effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, and students.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate across a wide range of stakeholder groups, particularly faculty and academic leaders.
  • Experience working crossfunctionally, leading change initiatives, and coordinating systemwide resources to support and advance faculty engagement.
  • Knowledge of current trends in career education, experiential learning, and the integration of career readiness into academic curriculum.

Position Summary
Dual reporting to the Career Center's Executive Director and Assistant Vice President for Learning Initiatives within the Office of Instruction, this position is responsible for advancing a university-wide culture of career development by providing support to academic units and individual faculty to embed career readiness into the academic experience. The Director will work across colleges, departments, and administrative units to promote the strategic integration of career education into curricula and co-curricular activities. The Director will lead the development, implementation, and assessment of a comprehensive faculty engagement strategy, with the ultimate goal of supporting student career success and promoting a "Career Everywhere for Every Bulldog" institutional culture.

Faculty Engagement & Strategic Leadership

  • Provide direct supervision to a core team and offer liaison-based dotted-line oversight to career consultants involved in Academic Integration, with a focus on faculty development and engagement.
  • Lead the design and execution of a university-wide Faculty Engagement Strategy focused on career development, in alignment with the Career Center's strategic plan.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Career Center and academic departments to promote the integration of career education into learning environments across campus.
  • Partner with academic leadership to position career development as a shared institutional responsibility.
  • Develop and deploy opportunities for faculty to participate in career education efforts, such as workshops, career modules, and scalable experiential learning frameworks.
  • Build and manage a faculty recognition process that honors and incentivizes faculty career advocacy through awards, grants, and institutional support.

  • Provide support to academic units to connect their efforts with relevant career readiness competencies and labor market awareness.
  • Support curriculum development initiatives that intentionally align academic learning outcomes with longterm career development priorities, including career pathways, transferable skills, and postgraduate readiness.
  • Promote and support curricular and co-curricular approaches that encourage student reflection on the connection between academic content and career preparation.
  • Collaborate closely with the UGA Mentor Program to prioritize faculty awareness of the UGA Mentor Program and the integration of mentors into the student experience.
  • Develop a Faculty Fellows program to promote/bolster the integration of career education across learning environments, with emphasis on program-level and curricular alignment, while supporting course-level innovation.

  • Lead the development of organizational infrastructure that supports and sustains faculty engagement in career education.

  • Serve on relevant university committees and working groups to advocate for career development inclusion in faculty development, general education revisions, and strategic planning efforts.
