What you'll be doing...

Verizon is seeking a Senior Manager, External Affairs and Strategic Alliances in California.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Representing Verizon with community leaders and third party stakeholders at the state and local levels to advance Verizon's public policy agenda in California.

  • Collaborating with Verizon's lines of business to implement the company's state regulatory and legislative affairs strategy.

  • Supporting the execution of regulatory requirements and commitments stemming from the Frontier acquisition in California.

  • Managing relationships with nonprofit and community stakeholders, including civil rights, tribal, consumer, and other organizations on shared policy and community priorities.

  • Collaborating directly with the Public Policy and Regulatory teams, and managing external consultants to ensure ongoing compliance with all Frontier-related commitments and settlements.

  • Coordinating targeted outreach with trade associations, third-party stakeholders and community leaders to advance Verizon's priority issues at the state and local levels.

  • Supporting Verizon state regulatory team to influence decisions in key initiatives.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Experience in the development, management and advocacy of telecommunications, broadband, cable TV and / or utilities policies and positions.

  • Demonstrated skills in negotiating issues in support of corporate goals and objectives.

  • Experience working with all levels of management.

  • Willingness to travel within territory in personally owned vehicle.

  • Ability to work both during normal business hours, as well as evenings and weekends should the circumstances require availability.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Law degree or experience in legal matters.

  • Public policy, community engagement, advocacy experience on behalf of a technology, communications, cable TV or public utilities business/industry.

  • Broad knowledge of Verizon operations and business functions or extensive positioning already established in territory.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Self-starter and evidence of intellectual curiosity.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and changing priorities.

  • Highest level of personal integrity.

Where you'll be working
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours. The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $120,000.00 - $209,000.00. Verizon will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the requirements of the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative.
