As a Security Officer Armed Medical Campus Driver in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Healthcare, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer at a busy healthcare location, you will conduct routine patrols, remain highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents, and respond to calls for assistance with professionalism and care. This is a driving post, so you will use a company or assigned vehicle to cover assigned areas and support staff, patients, and visitors through clear communication and customer service, reflecting Allied Universal values of integrity and teamwork. Why Join Us: What You'll Do: - Provide customer service to patients, visitors, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a healthcare setting.
- Conduct regular and random armed patrols of buildings, parking areas, entrances, and perimeter to help to identify unusual activity, policy violations, and potential hazards.
- Maintain a visible presence at key access points, assisting with access control, visitor directions, and routing to appropriate hospital departments.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including disturbances, alarms, medical facility codes, and requests for assistance from clinical teams.
- Use de-escalation and verbal intervention techniques to help resolve conflict; request additional resources when needed, including law enforcement and/or emergency services.
- Carry and handle authorized defensive equipment and firearms in accordance with Allied Universal and location-specific policies, applicable laws, and required training.
- Monitor cameras, alarms, and other security-related systems; communicate observations to site leadership and dispatch.
- Complete detailed incident reports, patrol logs, and other documentation in a timely manner, following required reporting procedures.
- Assist with securing restricted areas such as emergency department spaces, behavioral health units, pharmacies, and loading areas, according to posted procedures and authorization requirements.
- Support traffic and parking operations during peak periods and special events, helping to maintain orderly vehicle flow and/or pedestrian movement on the property.
Minimum Requirements: - A valid driver's license is required in the state where the job is located.
- At least 1 year of armed security, law enforcement, and/or military experience is required.
- An armed guard card/license is required.
- Client requires proof of a high school diploma or GED.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
