As a Security Officer - Part-Time Patrol - Retail in Elmont, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Retail/Malls, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a busy retail and mall location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will respond to concerns, communicate clearly with site contacts, and assist guests and tenants with a customer-first approach. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to guests, tenants, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a retail or mall location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including disturbances, medical calls, and suspicious activity.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout interior common areas, exterior walkways, parking areas, and the perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity.
  • Monitor entrances, corridors, and high-traffic areas, and address policy violations in accordance with post orders.
  • Assist with access control by observing deliveries, service vendor activity, and after-hours entry and/or exit in assigned areas.
  • Complete detailed incident reports and activity logs, and communicate observations and concerns to Allied Universal leadership and site contacts.
  • Provide directions and general assistance to customers, including supporting lost and found procedures when assigned.
  • Support crowd management during peak shopping hours and special events, helping to de-escalate conflicts and requesting additional resources when needed.
  • Operate communication equipment and follow escalation procedures to request law enforcement, fire, and/or medical assistance when required.
  • Follow established procedures for alarm activations, door checks, and area inspections, and report hazards and maintenance issues to the appropriate contact.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
