Description
The Commercial Contract and Managed Care (CCMC) Billing Supervisor plays a key leadership role within Patient Business Services by overseeing daily billing operations for commercial and managed care payers. Reporting to the Patient Business Services (PBS) Department, this position supervises a team of billing professionals and ensures accurate, timely, and compliant billing practices across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and recurring outpatient services.
With a strong focus on billing metrics and process improvement, the Supervisor drives operational efficiency, supports revenue integrity, and partners closely with internal departments to resolve complex billing issues. This role also provides hands-on coaching, training, and guidance to staff to maintain high standards of quality, productivity, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of billing staff
  • Assign and prioritize daily workloads to ensure productivity and accuracy
  • Oversee commercial and managed care billing operations across inpatient, outpatient, ER, and recurring services
  • Ensure accurate primary and secondary claim submission in compliance with payer and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor unbilled inventories, claim edits, rejections, bill holds, and timely filing standards
  • Analyze billing metrics, denials, audits, and trends; implement process improvements to reduce errors and improve cash flow
  • Maintain current knowledge of payer contracts, billing regulations, and compliance standards
  • Train staff on billing systems, payer requirements, and departmental procedures
  • Serve as a liaison with internal partners including Patient Access, Revenue Integrity, Contracting, and Managed Care
  • Maintain Account Escalation Logs for addressing complex billing issues and undertakes assigned projects to support departmental objectives
Salary Range: $ 70,900 - $145,200/Annually
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field - REQUIRED
  • Five or more years of experience in Hospital Billing and Collections for Commercial and Managed Care health plans - REQUIRED
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a healthcare billing or collections setting, demonstrating leadership and coaching skills.
  • Solid understanding of medical and insurance terminology, billing and collections, internal procedures, and external regulations.
  • Working knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to evaluate and document human resources matters and performance.
  • Solid skills in providing quality customer service and managing interactions with various constituent groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage conflict and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and other relevant software for effective management and communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to track, trend, and analyze payer data for informed decision-making.
  • Proficient use of office equipment such as computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, calculators, and telephones.
  • Relevant certifications in healthcare billing and collections are preferred.
