Job Description




As a Security Officer - Unarmed Property Patrol in Norwalk, CT, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Commercial Real Estate, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a commercial real estate location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will respond to concerns, support tenants and visitors with professional customer service, and communicate clearly with your team. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to tenants, visitors, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical calls, fire alarms, and suspicious activity, and notify Allied Universal management and/or local responders as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols throughout commercial real estate buildings, common areas, parking areas, loading docks, and the perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity.
  • Monitor access points and building entrances, assist with visitor check-in and/or badge verification as directed by site procedures, and report access concerns to the appropriate contact.
  • Observe and report conditions that could impact property operations, including unlocked doors, broken gates, lighting outages, and/or maintenance concerns, and document notifications to the proper parties.
  • Operate site equipment as assigned, which may include radios, phones, key control systems, and/or CCTV, and communicate relevant observations in a timely manner.
  • Complete detailed shift logs, incident reports, and patrol documentation in accordance with Allied Universal and site requirements.
  • Provide courteous directions and assistance to tenants and visitors, and support tenant move-ins and/or after-hours access requests per site protocol.
  • Coordinate with property management and/or building engineers during routine operations and during unusual events to support site continuity.
  • Follow post orders for unarmed patrol duties, including standing watch at designated areas as needed and adjusting patrol patterns based on observed conditions and/or supervisor direction.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
