Job Summary and Mission
The Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, and management of raw materials within the plant. This position includes receiving, organizaing, kitting, and transporting raw materials and tooling for the Pressing Department.
Key Job Responsibilities
Safely and efficiently transport powders, raw materials, to the Pressing Department
Assist in tracking inventory levels of raw materials, intermediate products, ensuring that materials are properly acocunted for and readily available for production needs
Unload deliveries of raw materials, inspect incoming shipments for quantity and quality, and verify against purchase orders and packing slips
Ensure materials are properly stored in designated areas, adhering to safety guidelines and preventing contamination or damage to powders
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely
Kit production runs ensuring that material orders meet production schedules
Support Pressing Departent by ensuring that materials are delivered to machines in a timely manner
Monitor the condition of materials and report any descepancies, damage or issues that could affect production quaity or safety
Maintain accurate records of material movements, inventory transactions, and material usage
Complete required documentation in inventory systems
Collect and properly dispose of scarp materials or waste generated during the production process, in accordance with environmental and safety regulations
Key Job Accountabilities
Committment to working safely and understanding all safety protocols is paramount, ensuring that all procedures are followed to minimize risks and hazards. Work closely with produciton, maintenance, and to ensure material availability. Must have the ability to resolve any material related issues that impact production schedules. Deviations in routine are handled according to operating procedures and/or work instructions.
Education and Experience
Must have High school diploma or GED.
Work Environment
Working in environments with varying temperatures and exposure to noise may be required. Some environments may include controlled temperatures and dust collection systems. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required: Safety glasses with side-shields, safety shoes, gloves, and cut resistant gloves when necessary.
Physical Demands
Approximately eight (8) or twelve (12) hours with scheduled break periods. Standing, intermittent walking, reaching, sitting, bending and lifting product weighing no more than thirty-three (33) pounds. Use of hands and fingers for fine motor tasks, to operate machinery, and handle tools safely. Visual acuity is necessary for reading gauges, inspecting products, and ensuring quality standards. Physical stamina and the ability to maintain focus during repetitive tasks are essential.
Problem Solving
Process orders by due date. Follow work instructions and Inspection Standards. Assignments and instructions communicated orally and carried out by standing guidelines. Must inspect and maintain equipment as required. Moderate to complex problems solved by operator using learned knowledge of product, production processes and in some cases, coordination with technical experts inside and outside of the plant. Recurring problems and major decisions receive supervisor attention.
