Job Summary

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing, managing, and continuously improving safety programs to reduce occupational hazards and ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations within the telecom and low voltage industry. This role partners closely with operations and field teams to promote a strong safety culture through inspections, training, incident investigation, and data-driven risk management. The position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with a solid understanding of construction safety practices and regulatory standards.

Job Responsibilities




  • Identify, evaluate, and appraise conditions that may lead to workplace accidents, injuries, or financial losses.



  • Assess the potential severity of injuries, incidents, and property damage resulting from unsafe conditions.



  • Develop, implement, and maintain accident prevention and loss control programs aligned with operational policies.



  • Coordinate and support safety initiatives across the assigned business unit to ensure consistent implementation.



  • Conduct routine and targeted site inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.



  • Investigate work-related accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses to determine root causes and preventive measures.



  • Compile, analyze, and interpret safety and exposure data related to injuries, illnesses, incidents, and compliance standards.



  • Prepare and present safety reports and findings to leadership and relevant personnel.



  • Recommend process, procedural, and equipment improvements to reduce employee exposure to workplace hazards.



  • Review plans and specifications to verify that safety requirements are met.



  • Evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions taken to address safety and health inspection findings.



  • Lead or facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for supervisors and field personnel.



  • Mentor employees on safe work practices and recommend corrective actions when necessary.



  • Maintain current knowledge of safety regulations, company policies, and operational procedures.




Job Requirements




  • Minimum of five years of related experience in a safety management or safety coordination role.



  • Strong knowledge of construction, telecom, or similar field-based work environments.



  • Demonstrated ability to conduct inspections, investigations, and safety training.



  • Ability to analyze safety data and translate findings into actionable improvements.



  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and navigate active job sites for extended periods during the workday.



  • Preferred certifications (current or in progress):




    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)



    • Associate Safety Professional (ASP)



    • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)



    • OSHA 500 or OSHA 510
