Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly qualified IT and Cybersecurity/COMPUSEC (Computer Security) Specialist. The successful candidate will provide subject matter expertise, guidance, and direct support in the implementation and assessment of National, DoD, and Air Force (AF) cybersecurity policies, directives, and standards. This position serves as a critical resource for responding to support requests, recommending and reviewing policy changes, offering technical assistance, and supporting continuous improvement processes in cybersecurity and information assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a frontline support representative responding directly to Government personnel requests for IT and Cybersecurity/IA (Information Assurance), including COMPUSEC issues, both reactively (support/information requests) and proactively (identification and resolution of emerging issues).
  • Resolve complex implementation issues related to National, DoD, and AF directives, instructions, manuals, standards, strategies, mission statements, goals, and objectives.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Government stakeholders at various ranks and functional levels via phone, audio/video teleconferences, Unified Capabilities (UC), Defense Collaborative Service (DCS), webinars, and collaborative software such as Teams and Zoom. Prepare and deliver communications materials, cite published guidance, and provide well-sourced information as needed.
  • Provide authoritative current and historical analysis and perspectives on AF Cybersecurity/IA COMPUSEC policy.
  • Assist with the review of official AF interpretations/positions and facilitate policy change recommendations, ensuring timely updates, revisions, and compliance with evolving Federal/DoD directives and technological advancements to reduce cyber risk.
  • Support the review, creation, and updates of COMPUSEC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Air Force Qualification Training Packages (AFQTP), and curriculum for Information System Security Manager (ISSM) courses (including AETC or related courses).
  • Provide implementation guidance and feedback on Cybersecurity/IA COMPUSEC policy to assessed units or Wing/IG personnel and support closure of identified MICT deficiencies.
  • Act as a key resource in policy improvement and operational enhancement teams, incorporating lessons learned and official AF policy interpretations into update recommendations and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of DoDI 8570.01M IAM Level 1 certification.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting IT and Cybersecurity/IA compliance in a DoD, AF, or Federal environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of DoD and AF cybersecurity/IA directives, standards, policies, and emerging trends.
  • Proficiency in the use of a range of communication and collaboration platforms, including telephone, VTC, DCS, Teams, Zoom, and electronic correspondence.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports, briefings, and correspondence for a range of Government stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in policy review, risk assessment, and problem resolution within a complex and regulated environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of collaborative AF-level policy development or assessment teams.
Security Clearance:
An active DoD Secret clearance (or higher) is required for this position.
