Who We Are Looking For



The Assistant General Counsel ("AGC") will serve as a member of the Crisis24 legal team, providing strategic advice on litigation, regulatory, and compliance matters.



The AGC will primarily oversee company litigation for employment matters, general liability, automotive liability, and other business litigation. The AGC will also be the primary lawyer on regulatory inquiries, safety programs, business licensing, and compliance, with a special focus on wage and hour programs in California, Oregon, and Washington. Travel is required, sometimes internationally. The AGC will also provide broader legal guidance to company leadership and employees on a wide range of matters as a key advisor within the legal function.



This position will be in Washington, DC metropolitan area, with some time required in our Annapolis, MD office.



What You Will Work On:




  • Providing tactical and strategic oversight of legal matters and managing relationships with outside counsel on cases and controversies filed against the company.
  • Supporting employment-related matters (with an emphasis on California where applicable), including policy interpretation, dispute resolution, and compliance.
  • Manage and improve company-wide compliance programs, including oversight of related processes and team members.
  • Design, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and controls to support regulatory and contractual compliance.
  • Manage pre-litigation disputes, claims, and litigation matters.
  • Advise company leaders on legal risk, regulatory requirements, and practical risk-mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct or support investigations, audits, and responses to regulatory or administrative inquiries as needed.
  • Streamline legal and compliance workflows and improve operational efficiency.

  • Legal proficiency - be a passionate litigator with strong attention to detail, the ability to focus on material issues, and a commitment to ethics and integrity in business dealings.
  • Strategic, solution-oriented mindset - identify and assess legal, regulatory, and employment-related risks, propose pragmatic solutions, and support business objectives while protecting the organization.
  • Mental Agility - manage a substantial and diverse portfolio of matters for various internal clients, providing clear and timely advice.
  • Leadership - lead projects, influence stakeholders without direct authority, mentor more junior team members, and collaborate effectively across functions while being open to different points of view.



Requirements



  • J.D. from a qualified U.S. law school.
  • Bar membership in at least one U.S. state in good standing.
  • Significant experience (typically 7+ years) at a law firm or corporation running and supervising litigation.
  • Experience in regulatory and compliance matters relevant to commercial operations.
  • Experience providing document retention advice, conducting or supporting due diligence, and handling compliance matters.
  • Knowledge of California employment law is preferred, including practical experience advising on employment-related issues (e.g., wage and hour, discrimination/harassment, leaves of absence, and terminations).
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, prioritize and manage competing demands, and operate with a high degree of independence in a fast-paced environment.
