    Lead multidisciplinary project teams across multiple office locations.

In this role you will:

  • Collaborates with Principal in evaluation of project requirements and helps to negotiate an acceptable owner-architect agreement including the fee and time schedule.
  • Develops discipline cost and work-hour budgets for each project and monitors project costs, completion status against budget schedules/timelines.
  • Oversees all correspondence and pertinent documents, making sure they are accurate, signs or obtains signatures and seeks legal counsel as appropriate.
  • Coordinates review and evaluation of contractor bids and works with Principal so that award recommendation can be submitted to owner.
  • Provides day-to-day leadership in the absence of and as delegated by the Principal and/or Practice Group Leader keeping lines of communication open with all office management leaders and assists with preparation of client billings prior to submittal for signature.
  • Collaborates with Practice Group Leader as requested in the marketing of projects including development of proposals and possible participation in client interviews.
  • Write scopes of work for engineering design based on preliminary review and meetings with the client.
  • Present complex engineering analysis clearly and effectively to owner and design teams.
  • Research non-routine code issues and obtain interpretations from code officials.
  • Mange the production of engineering sketches and system schematics for complicated design tasks such as layout of engineering equipment.
  • Prepare engineering opinion of probable cost for engineering systems and review contractor cost estimates.
  • Prepare addendum and change orders. Initiate additional service requests for submittal to client.
  • Review drawings and documents to assure compliance with company design and production standards.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of construction processes and delivery methods. Such as LEAN, IPD and design build contracts.
  • Assist in the education and development of design staff and act as a resource for questions.

You will need to have:

  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Architectural Engineering or Engineering
  • Professional Engineering (PE) registration preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years experience required; at least 5 years experience designing engineering systems
  • Knowledge of current technology, IES, LEED and ASHRAE guidelines and all applicable codes, (city, state, federal)
  • Working knowledge of building engineering systems
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suites
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and working knowledge of Revit are essential

Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA's robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $136,300 - $169,100 (Mid-West); $145,300 - $180,200 (East and West Coast).
