The WEX Summer Internship Program: Learn, Lead, and Make an Impact
Our 13-week paid internship program, running from late May to mid-August, is a chance for you to gain real-world experience and develop your skills. Recruiting begins in January and continues through March at our various locations across the U.S.

You won't just be a bystander; you'll work on impactful projects and contribute to WEX's mission. We provide mentorship, professional development, and weekly learning experiences to help you build confidence and leadership skills. High-performing interns may even get the chance to lead their own initiatives.

About the team/role:

Step into a strategic role where you'll help safeguard WEX's financial health by turning complex data into actionable business intelligence. This internship goes beyond theory, tasking you with evaluating credit quality and refining the strategic frameworks that protect millions of transactions. You'll work alongside industry experts, building the analytical depth and executive presence needed to launch a career in finance.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Drive operational improvements through specific project-based work.

  • Analyze key business processes and assisting with the development of risk management processes and procedures.

  • Provide review of financial statements in assessing the credit quality of businesses.

  • Build and improve risk management frameworks, and risk management policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate with the lines of business to ensure stakeholders are informed of new or revised policies and procedures.

  • Assist in the completion and implementation of risk management programs.

  • Actively lead internal projects that deliver strategic insights and recommendations to WEX leadership.

  • Provide analytical rigor and bring strategic vision to key initiatives.

  • Develop trusted partnerships with your respective business teams.

  • Understand how your job is key to supporting the wider WEX organization.

  • Provide review of financial statements in assessing the credit quality of businesses.

  • Experience a collaborative and challenging working environment.

  • Receive the opportunity to engage with various stakeholders across the business and senior leadership teams.

  • Train and develop skills in your area of work with experts in the payment industry.

Experience you'll bring:

  • At a minimum, you should be a rising Junior, or Senior Bachelor's student, in a degree/certificate-seeking accredited business, finance, or related program.

  • Strong project management skills, including planning and execution.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting information.

  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
