dormakaba is seeking an Interior Glass Systems (IGS) Intern to join our Summer 2026 Rising Talent Program in Indianapolis. This Role will report directly to the Product Manager IV. The IGS Intern is responsible for gathering data and analyze the business challenges alongside subject matter experts. Drive evidence-based decision-making that helps design a new process.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: Base Salary $19.00-$23.00/hr (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) Please visit our career site for more information on benefits.

What you will do
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to analyze mechanical challenges, utilizing lab data and BHMA testing results to drive evidence-based design improvements.
  • Lead the technical execution of assigned projects through regular milestone reviews and progress tracking with your supervisor.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of SolidWorks models and ERP configuration data to streamline manufacturing processes, introduce new hardware technologies, and enhance cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Engage with teams outside of core engineering-including Operations, Test Labs, and Purchasing-to understand the full lifecycle of architectural hardware from concept to shipping.
  • Partner with fellow interns on cross-functional initiatives, applying diverse perspectives to solve complex problems within the Reamstown facility
What we require
  • University/College students pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline with an expected graduation date between December 2026 and Spring 2029.
  • Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week for 10-12 weeks (May-August 2026)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorshipWhat we prefer
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment is preferred, but strong academic project work will be considered.
  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field Coursework or project experience in Product Design, Statics, or Materials Science. Experience in a machine shop or lab environment is a significant plus. Hands-on experience with SolidWorks (preferred) and AutoCAD, with the ability to update solid models, manage configurations, and generate fabrication drawings.
  • Demonstrated leadership through campus organizations, volunteer work, or extracurricular activities.
