This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Towne Centre Drive (San Diego, CA) and remote. Onsite in San Diego, CA 3 days a week.

This position has recently been accreted by UPTE HX union and will be a part of that union moving forward.

DESCRIPTION

We are a small, dedicated team committed to delivering an exceptional Epic training experience for our front line clinicians. In addition to facilitating Epic training for new hires, the Epic Principal Trainer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining curriculum for their assigned application area(s). This role conducts site visits in hospital and clinic settings, shadowing end users to assess workflows and evaluate training effectiveness. The position also provides in person, at the elbow support during Go Lives and requires regular onsite presence in San Diego. The current opening is for an Inpatient Principal Trainer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Epic Certification

  • Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training in EMR healthcare training, instructional design, or curriculum development, preferably with Epic, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three (3) years of related EMR healthcare training and instructional design experience, preferably with Epic. Related experience also includes: healthcare information systems support experience in academic medical centers or large integrated health systems.

  • Thorough knowledge of health care information systems.

  • Thorough knowledge of adult learning theories and training methodologies.

  • Ability to train physicians, clinical and non-clinical staff.

  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong presentation skill including ability to facilitate classroom, on-line and one-on-one training.

  • Ability to comprehend technical and / or functional manuals and instructions.

  • Ability to effectively adapt to changing curriculum.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities.

  • Ability to troubleshoot basic PC and Epic issues.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, email, internet, and other systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Epic certification or equivalent Epic credential for Inpatient ClinDoc, and/or Orders, and/or ASAP.

  • Epic certification or equivalent Epic credential for Training Environment certification.

  • Epic certification or equivalent Epic credential for Clinical Informatics certification.

  • Experience with Epic's Training Wheels, UserWeb, Nova Notes, and upgrade processes.

  • Experience developing eLearning modules using tools like Articulate, Rise, ClipChamp, or similar.

  • Experience designing instructor-led, virtual and blended learning pathways including curriculum development.

  • Experience creating and maintaining Amplifire adaptive learning modules.

  • Experience working in inpatient and ED clinical settings.

  • Experience creating tipsheets, quick start guides, and workflow-based reference materials.

  • Ability to manage multiple training projects simultaneously.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Commitment to continuous improvement and learning.
