Location: Mercy Coletta Cancer Center - Oklahoma City

Shift: Full Time (40 hours/week) Days

This is a new position to adjust physics staffing levels for the growth we have experienced over the past several years. With the addition of the new physicist, our team will consist of 4 physicists, 5 dosimetrists, and 4 radiation oncologists. Housed in a state-of-the-art comprehensive cancer center, our facility has two Varian Truebeams, with a new Truebeam to be installed this year, and a Siemens Somatom CT. In addition to conventional treatments, our Truebeams treat SRS/SRT, SBRT, DIBH, and use Varian's RPM for gated treatments, and we are currently in the process of switching to Identify. We have a very active HDR program using a Bravos HDR unit, treating a variety of HDR skin sites, and have a growing HDR GYN program. Physicists with HDR planning experience will be given special consideration.

Our clinic uses Aria/Eclipse/BrachyVision v16 (upgrading to v18 this year), along with RadCalc and RadFormation's autocontouring. Our physics group has a variety of QA equipment, including DQA3, ArcCheck, IC Profiler, and the 1D and 3D tanks from Sun Nuclear.

Overview:

The Medical Radiation Physicist is to be trained and competent in all areas of radiation oncology physics, radiation safety, treatment planning including but not limited to conventional, IMRT, IGRT, Rapid Arc, SBRT, Respiratory Gating, Gamma Knife Stereotactic radiosurgery, and Brachytherapy (HDR and LDR). The Radiation Medical Physicist will serve as mercy health Center's radiation safety officer.

Qualifications:

  • Education: MS or Ph.D., in Medical Physics or a closely related field.

  • Experience: Will be qualified to assume the responsibilities of radiation safety officer for the hospital and its entities.

  • Preferred Experience: Previous experience as a Clinical Medical Physicist is desirable. Experienced board-certified or board-eligible medical physicists are preferred, but exceptional board-eligible medical physicists completing an accredited residency will also be considered.

  • Certifications: Certification with the American Board of Radiology and/or the American Board of Medical Physics, or board eligible (Achieved full board certification within 4 years of hire).

  • Other: Good communication and interpersonal skills.
