Job Summary

Purchasing analyst is responsible for organizing the organization's purchasing decisions to evaluate their effectiveness. Strives to minimize expenses and increase company profitability, develop purchasing reports and recommends changes to the acquisition processes as needed. Works under general direction; relies on experience and judgment to

accomplish tasks; exercises discretion and judgment on work priority on a regular basis; and a wide degree of creativity is required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews purchasing data

  • Prepares internal statements and one time reports

  • Prepares vendor score cards and information related to that vendor

  • Analyzes and documents options for procurement of materials

  • Develops detailed purchasing reporting

  • Recommends changes to the acquisition processes as needed

  • Tracks on time shipments

  • Develops a process to standardize the creation of product codes as needed

  • Gathers information from our systems and IS/IT department

  • Analyzes current inventory buying programs

  • Works with transportation department as needed

  • Evaluates and compares vendors

  • Develops SOP for all departments

  • Functions as the lead for software rollouts

  • Analyzing terms and rebates

  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor of arts in finance, accounting, or other business major
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in related field
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer and business related software, including Microsoft applications (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Must have a sound understanding of finance and accounting principles
