The Intern, External Communications will support strategic communications for AES' renewable energy development portfolio in the United States, positioning AES as a solution-focused market leader in utility-scale development. This role will be a member of the External Affairs team, and be an integral part of driving key communications activities such as thought leadership, digital engagement, market research, media relations, and content creation. This role is ideal for undergrad or graduate students interested in communications, public affairs, marketing, policy, or other relevant discipline. We are hiring for one of our office locations, Louisville, CO; Salt Lake City, UT; Arlington, VA; Conshohocken, PA; New York City, NY; Richmond, VA; or Houston, TX with a hybrid expectation.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external subject matter experts to assist with basic research to understand technical industry-related information to help inform communications materials.

  • Create and deliver a range of compelling content to meet the educational and informational needs of our key stakeholder audiences.

  • Identify opportunities for thought leadership and award recognition across the organization to increase public visibility of AES.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop communications strategies to support project success.

  • Help maintain communications calendars, content libraries, and project documentation.

Qualifications

  • Current pursuing or recently received a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Political Science, Environmental Policy, or relevant discipline

  • Strong writing and communications skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively, stay organized, and manage multiple tasks with supervision
