Department Information
The Woodruff School graduates high caliber mechanical engineers for a demanding profession. Mechanical engineers are the foundation of todays technological world. To do so, we provide enhanced facilities and laboratories to create the best learning environment and we attract outstanding faculty and students. In this period of rapid technological change, the Woodruff School produces mechanical engineers who are vital to our future.

With approximately 3,000 students, 100 faculty members, and 80 staff members, the Woodruff School is one of the largest mechanical engineering programs in the country. We are consistently ranked as one of the top 10 mechanical engineering programs in the U.S. at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and continuously innovate to keep our school at the forefront of engineering education. Our size and resources allow us to offer a diversity of educational and research opportunities that enable us to produce highly sought after engineering professionals.

Job Summary

Perform a wide variety of duties in direct support of the Chair's strategic and administrative activities and responsibilities for the School. Coordinate and support existing and new programs and partnerships across Georgia Institute of Technology as well as external entities. Lead and coordinate Business Operations including financial, management, IT Services, HR Services, and Communications/Marketing for the School. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.This position will interact on a regular basis with: Deans, Chairs, faculty, GT leadership. This position typically will advise and counsel: Deans, Chairs, faculty, GT leadership. This position will supervise: Office administrative staff.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Lead and coordinate Business Operations, IT Services, HR Services, and Communications/Marketing.

Job Duty 2 -
Develop and manage a process for tracking and supporting the decisions that come before the Chair and the Chair's leadership team. This includes setting a timetable for making decisions, ensuring necessary data and analysis are prepared and reviewed by relevant stakeholders and all relevant parties have provided input.

Job Duty 3 -
Partner with the School's leadership team to direct, organize, and monitor routine and strategic financial and administrative functions and performance. Verify major initiatives support the goals and mission as defined in the strategic plan.

Job Duty 4 -
Serve as Project Manager for key initiatives and projects.

Job Duty 5 -
Represent and/or accompany the Chair as requested. Serves as key staff member for all committees over which the Chair presides.

Job Duty 6 -
Coordinate or compose the writing, editing and preparation of drafts and final versions of correspondence, reports, presentations, speeches, and articles needed to support the Chair.

Job Duty 7 -
Provide overall management and supervision of calendar for Chair. This includes addressing issues in advance of meetings that require decisions and/or resource commitments.

Job Duty 8 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance or related area or equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Required Qualifications
Overnight travel requdministrativeed for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client shift schedules, project requdministrativeements).

Required Experience
Six to seven years of job related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires an advanced level of knowledge of administrative management practices within the executive management level of higher education. Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills as well as strong analytical and research skills are required.
