Department:Fire Rescue Department Organizational Unit:Fire Operations Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time CLOSE DATE: 02/25/2026 $26.14 to $28.75 hourly. Actual salary is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Central Area/Cocoa/Travels Countywide. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to work planned and unplanned overtime and call back hours as necessary and on-call duty on a rotational basis. Performs skilled crafts and trades work in the inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of diesel and gasoline Fire Rescue vehicles and related equipment including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pumping, and drivetrain systems and components. REQUIREMENTS: Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience working on diesel and gasoline equipment, including two (2) years of experience in heavy equipment and fire pump mechanics. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess or obtain, prior to employment, a valid Florida Commercial Driver's license Class "B" and maintain said license during the term of employment. ASE and EVT certifications are preferred. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or manmade disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
