TITLE: Assistant Shift Supervisor



POSITION OBJECTIVE: Under the direction of the Plant Manager and with the assistance of Production Managers, the Production Supervisor directs and coordinates the job responsibilities of the production team. Supervisory responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High School Diploma or GED, plus 3 - 5 years of supervisory experience in plastics.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must have hands on experience in mold set up and skills related to the Structural Foam and High-Pressure Molding Industry.
  • Granger Robotic experience a plus.
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Responsible for personnel performing any production related activities (Extrusion technicians/press operators, tenders, and material driver.
  • Overseeing the organization's production systems, reporting on their performance and initiating improvements for the department.
  • Delegate tasks for daily/shift activities.
  • Maintain IMM processes and efficiency.
  • Train direct staff.
  • Trouble shoot production errors.
  • Ensuring the production activities conform to the company's quality program in accordance with the customer, company and regulatory requirements.
  • Enforcing and maintaining the organizations standards, procedures and production operations, including product quality, reliability, employee evaluations and safety.
  • Assign daily work assignments based on production schedules and labor availability.
  • Ensure equipment is setup in accordance with customer specification, quality perimeters and regulatory requirement as defined in the Job Book.
  • Enforce organizational standards of efficiency, policies, procedures and expectations in order to maintain a safe work environment and high-quality product.
  • Partner with appropriate resources to address production concerns, quality issues and/or equipment issues that may arise throughout the shift.
  • Coach, develop and counsel team members to maximum his / her full potential.
  • Promote, support and participate in quality, operational and safety / environmental improvements.
  • Maintain appropriate production records and effectively communicate with direct reports and other supporting staff.
  • Enforce procedures and practices that promote high standards and improve techniques for production, cost effective set ups, quality products, reliable services, and employee safety.
  • Apply all company standards through functional groups. This will always be done based on company needs, current governmental regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Organize, promote, and support companywide quality improvement efforts.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.



TRAINING:



  • Each new supervisor will train for a minimum of two weeks in each area of the production department (Press operations, quality, press tender, mold set-up/changer and material driver) to ensure a better understanding of the product process on day shift.
  • Hands on training with Plant Manager, Production Manager and/or qualified Supervisor.



AUTHORITY / DECISION MAKING:



  • The Supervisor will be responsible for leading, directing and making day-to-day business decisions that impact daily safety, quality and productivity operations for each crew to meet customer specifications and operational guidelines given
